my trad climbing rack

important note: i am a beginner trad leader. my rack is limited and potentially dangerous for some certain styles and routes, but it works for what i do. do not use this as a reference or buylist without consulting the racks of other more experienced climbers.

from right to left: a standard rack of wild country 'friends' size .4 to 3, with a black diamond booty double of size 1 and 2, a set of eleven black diamond nuts, a nut tool and pink tri-cam. i enjoy the extendable slings of my friends, and all of them are in good condition. my only questionable piece of gear is my second red cam. it's an older bd model, quite short compared to it's contemporaries, and seems to have a lot of history. personally, i would not whip on it, but i do believe it would hold. also shown: my nuts. i am a big nut guy. i tend to place and trust them more than cams. i've met a few people who climb with cams only, and that's just stupid. guys, get some nuts. one piece of gear i haven't used much is my booty pink tri-cam. i don't know, i feel like it just takes too much thought to place...

five alpine quickdraws and six sport quickdraws. a prussic for repelling, two 60cm slings, one 240cm cordalette.

eight locking carabiners from a variety of sources. ideally these should come in pairs, but sometimes you find a cool pear biner in the back of a consignment shop and you can't resist... also a grigri and three atc's for belaying. No one needs three atc's, the black and green one are for sale.

we're past my rack now, and just looking at some more random gear i have. my infamous helmet, zipping petzl chalk bag with a fuzzy carpet-like interior, my scarpa chimera shoes i bought for the color, but work wonders with tiny footholds and heel-hooks, and my shitty $15 bd shoes that i wear more often, for indoor bouldering and multi-pitch. i might update this page later with the rest of my stuff: rope, bag, harness, etc. but rn they're in my car, and i cannot be bothered to take pictures of them.
